Huntington Park is located at the intersection of Warwick Boulevard and Mercury Boulevard, nestled at the base of the James River Bridge. There are convenient park entrances at Hornet Circle and Warwick Boulevard (where the Peninsula YMCA is located) and at River Road and Mercury Boulevard (the last stop before the James River Bridge).

Huntington Park is home to Fort Fun, a 14,000 square foot playground. Fort Fun is located on a scenic bluff overlooking the James River, and the view is spectacular during the late evening hours.

There are two picnic shelters available for rent in the park on the bluff near Fort Fun. To reserve picnic shelters, see On-line Picnic Shelter Reservations.

Open from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day
Monday - Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Lifeguard on Duty)

Here are some of the wonderful features awaiting you in Huntington Park:

  • The James River Fishing Pier gives you the opportunity to fish from the longest fishing pier on the East Coast (privately managed).
  • The Children’s Fishing pier extends out into Lake Biggins, a large freshwater lake located in the park. Virginia Freshwater Fishing License required for fishermen age 16 and older.
  • A public boat ramp, with dedicated parking, is open year round, 24 hours a day
  • Huntington Park Public BeachA public beach with designated swimming area, staffed with lifeguards from Memorial Day through Labor Day. A beach concession is also open during this time serving snowcones, ice cream, and other delicious foods.
  • The Huntington Park Rose Garden, a beautifully landscaped area complete with a scenic gazebo, is located near the Warwick Boulevard entrance.
  • There are two ballfields located in the park, where the city’s sports leagues play.
  • The Vietnam War and Holocaust Remembrance memorials provide a quiet place for honoring those who sacrificed in the past.

The park is also home to the Virginia War Museum, with displays of militaria from the Revolutionary War to the present. There are also a number of items on outdoor display throughout the park.
